Synopsis[]
Tater introduces her littlest cousin to the library.
Plot[]
Tater decides to give herself a "me day" and announces to the primos that she will spend the day at the library. Everyone is indifferent except for Lucita who asks that she come along too. Knowing that she is just as interested in reading as she is, Tater agrees to take her, especially since Lucita does not have a library card. Tater dons her helper vest and takes her to the public library at the kid's section. The kids explain that Tater came and fixed everything in the library, making everything easier to navigate. Tater also introduces Lucita to Ms. Mahoney, the librarian, who considers Tater the best helper she has had.
Lucita begins to impress Ms. Mahoney and the other kids with her expert reading skills, knowledge of ASL, and her organizational abilities. This causes Tater to become jealous as she feels that she is losing her place as a great helper at the library. She tries to help Ms. Mahoney by putting up the returns, but accidentally makes a mess. Ms. Mahoney instead tells Tater that she should go down to the teen section, which Tater has previously vilified as being a tragic and unkempt place. She reluctantly gives up her helper vest to Lucita, it was already too small for her, and is forced to go downstairs.
Tater finds the teen section to be a drab and dreary place with all the teens being noticeably bizarre or strange. Tater overhears Lucita and Ms. Mahoney speaking and discovers that Ms. Mahoney sent her down to help the section just like she did with the kid's section. Viewing her new situation as a "quest", Tater begins to interact with the teens and starts giving them books that suit their personalities while also improving the area. Ms. Mahoney and Lucita come down and find that the teen section is now clean. Ms. Mahoney awards Tater by giving her a lanyard. Now appreciative of Lucita, Tater admits that she would make a great helper as the two of them "save" a book from a virile teen.
