"Summer of El Cringe" is the first segment of the fifteenth episode of the first season of Primos, and the twenty-ninth episode overall.
It premiered on September 7, 2024 alongside with "Summer of Taternomics".
Synopsis
Tater questions her love for her favorite series.
Plot
Tater and Serena are waiting for the unveiling of the new Romancimorphs novel from N. K. Scheinhorn. As they loudly profess their love for the series, two older teenagers proceed to mock Tater for liking something that is considered "cringe". Tater is confused by the description and they laugh at her when she tries to defend the series. As she solemnly heads home, Tater begins to question her love for the series and, despite Vision Tiger's insistence that she loves Romancimorphs, Tater decides to quit the series and move on with her life, deciding that starting tomorrow she will look for a new obsession.
Tater tries different new hobbies, but each one of them ends with her constantly thinking about Romancimorphs. She first tries playing with dinosaurs with Nachito, but recreates the stories. She joins the T Sisters in reading magazines, but begins to theorize Romancimorphs. She tries dancing with Buela, but cannot get her mind off the characters. She next tries to throw her books away in the trash, but finds that she is incapable of tossing literature as refuse. She proceeds to just donate the books at the library. Serena, who has been keeping on eye on Tater, recruits the primos to go and stop Tater from getting rid of her books.
Tater arrives at the library, but continues to think about Romancimorphs. She is stopped by Ms. Mahoney who reveals that the author N. K. Scheinhorn has arrived for a book signing. Tater asks Ms. Mahoney if she thinks Romanchimorphs is cringe and she tells her that she enjoys the books and that is all that matters. Serena and the primos arrive in time to see that Tater has changed her mind (and also see the teens that mocked her are enjoying the books). N. K. Scheinhorn excitedly takes a photo with Tater in her capybara costume. Afterwards, another Romanchimoprhs book is announced with Tater cameoing on the cover, much to her ecstasy.
