"Summer of Gwenship" is the first segment of the eighteenth episode of the first season of Primos, and the thirty-fifth episode overall.
It released early on September 11, 2024 on Disney+, and officially premiered September 28, 2024 on Disney Channel, alongside with Summer of Heart Eyes.
Synopsis
Tater finds herself befriending her nemesis.
Plot
Tater is called down by Bibi to the front door to meet her "friend". Thinking that it's Serena, she is shocked to find that it is actually Gwennifer Malfeo, the Skid's equally sinister sister and girl scout. Tater and Bibi are unsure as to why she is here as despite her past transgressions, many of which were harmful or traumatizing for Tater, it seems out of character for her to suddenly show up just so she can hang out. They do not have time to debate as Gwennifer lets herself in, via crashing through the back door, and forces Tater upstairs to hang out with her. Bibi tells Tater to blink when she is in trouble, though this proves fruitless.
Tater tries to get Gwennifer to play with her, but she continues to belittle and harm Tater for numerous reasons. When they decide to watch television, Gwennifer opens up about being mean, admitting that she likes doing so just because. After trying to hide her interest in a romantic television show, Cousin Bud enters and she suddenly begins to ogle over him. Tater is perplexed by Gwennifer's sudden change in demeanor and she admits that she admits to her that she has a crush on him after witnessing him gardening his flowers. Tater decides to "help" Gwennifer get with Cousin Bud, but in actuality sets her up to humiliate her in front of him.
As Tater helps Gwennifer set up a big non-eco-friendly display, Gwennifer thanks Tater for her help. This causes her to feel guilty and she admits to the fraud (which Gwennifer says she respects) before agreeing to help her for real. Tater gets Gwennifer to simply introduce herself to Cousin Bud, who responds by giving her a guava. After he leaves, Gwennifer throws it on the ground and claims that she is over him now and threatens Tater over telling anyone. Tater however, has gotten over her fear of Gwennifer and says that she can see her as a friend now, much to her annoyance. Later that evening, Gwennifer goes into the backyard to get the guava back.
