"Summer of Je Ne Sais Quoi" is the second segment of the twentieth episode of the first season of Primos, and the fortieth episode overall.
It premiered on March 2, 2025 alongside with Summer of the Mixtape.
Synopsis
Tater learns how to act more maturely from Serena while teaching Serena how to act more like a kid.
Plot
Tater is at her favorite French restaurant, Café S'il Vous Plaît, waiting for Serena to arrive. When she sits with her friend, the waiter asks Serena if she would like coffee, but she insists on hot chocolate instead as she is only nine. When the waiter addresses Tater, he calls her "enfant" (which sounds like "infant", but actually means "child"). Somewhat insulted as being seen as young, Tater notices that Serena has ear piercings now. When they leave the café, they have a brief encounter with an adult that leaves Tater tongue-tied and Serena showing her maturity. Tater comes to believe that Serena's earrings showcase her maturity.
Upon returning home, Serena has the opposite problem as Tater is able to play around with her primos while she herself has an awkward encounter that ends with Nachito calling her "Small Señora". Additionally, Serena can watch some of Bud's shows and enjoy them. Tater calls Serena an "adult whisperer" and ask that she teach her to be mature. Serena, in turn, asks Tater to teach her to be a "child yeller" as she hates being seen as older. Tater attempts to listen to Bud's boring stories and watch the weather report, while Serena tries to enjoy the primos frantic games. Tater ultimately decides to get her ears pierced and gets a surprising approval from Bibi.
Serena slowly begins to become more accustomed to the primos style of play, especially when she becomes very good at playing hide and seek with them. Bibi takes Tater to the store to have her ears pierced, but upon meeting the clumsy teen girl working the area, Tater panics and tells her mother she isn't ready for piercings. Bibi tells her that it's okay and that her deciding not get them right now is a sign of maturity, pleasing Tater. Upon returning home, Tater tells Serena her epiphany, but she decides to give her stick on earrings to make up for it. Tater and Serena's next conquest is to know how to be teens, but decide never to be become one.
