LotLot snd Tater Holding Dolly

Summer of La Muñeca

Season 1, episode 2b (Production order); Episode 4 (Overall)

"Summer of La Muñeca" is the second segment of the second episode of the first season of Primos, and the fourth episode overall.

It premiered on July 25, 2024, alongside with Summer of Quehaceres.

Synopsis[]

Tater volunteers to take responsibility of LotLot's cursed doll to steer the Primos away for some alone time.

Plot[]

Tater is struggling with the constant barrage of primos invading her space. Having grown tired, Buela tells her that she has "Mal de Ojo" (Evil Eye), and is cursed. Tater suddenly realizes that everything is quiet and discovers that LotLot has brought out her creepy dolly, aptly named Dolly. LotLot admits that the other primos don't like to be around her when she plays with Dolly because of her creepy appearance. While Tater is also creeped out, she realizes that Dolly is exactly what she needs to keep the other primos away and asks if she could borrow her. LotLot reluctantly agrees, but gives her rules to stick to, otherwise Dolly would have a bad reaction.

True to her hopes, Tater finds that Dolly is the perfect primo repellent and brings her everywhere she goes for some peace and quiet. Tater puts Dolly at her door while she draw fanart, only for Dolly to suddenly appear on her bed. She puts her in the closet, but hears Dolly calling to be let out, creeping Tater out. She goes downstairs to watch TV, or tries to after Gordita removes the TV's wiring, and sees Dolly crawling over the sofa in the screen's reflection. After going upstairs, Tater examines Dolly again, only for spiders to crawl out of her mouth, frighting Tater into running next door to her grandmother.

Tater explains to Buela about Dolly and she gets to work trying to remove whatever it is that is cursing the doll. Dolly seemingly comes to life and begins flying in the air, forcing Buela to use flaming sage to defeat it. The two hear coughing and discover LotLot hiding under the table. All of Dolly's creepy happenings are revealed to have been LotLot pulling a prank on Tater, with the exception of the TV incident. LotLot explains that she understands that Tater would rather be alone and that she feels that way too. They both agree that they can spend more time being "alone together" and make up. Buela throws Dolly away when it begins acting creepy again.

Trivia[]

Summer of La Muñeca - Dolly's triangle
    • Dolly's 8-ball eye was originally depicted with a triangle inside, much like real 8-balls. This was changed to a hexagon in the Lucita version, and the written font was made more basic. This alteration is also seen in one of the screenwipes.
    • The "Not looking so hot" text on said 8-ball screenwipe remains identical, however the color of the text was altered.
    • "Sleep with one eye open tonight" had "tonight" removed, and Tater's dialogue re-recorded by consequence.
    • One scene had Cousin Bud positioned slightly more up.
    • Gordita is depicted with flesh-colored leggings as she fiddles with the TV.
    • Some animation was adjusted as the primos showed mild annoyance in Gordita accidentally shutting the TV off. Oddly, Nellie is lip-synced to Cousin Bud saying "Little sis, no." This and Gordita's leggings would be fixed in the Hacienda version.
    • As Buela performs her lippia, Tater's line "Is this really going to save me?" was changed to "Is this really how you do a lippia?" in the Hacienda version.
    • Buela's following line of dialogue was desynced by one frame.
    • As Dolly rises in one shot, the egg yolk on her face moved slower than she did, creating a desync as it starts to fall off before it's meant to. This was fixed in the Lucita version.
    • LotLot's name is spelled "Lotlot" in the end credits, consistent with the other episodes' Cookita and Lucita versions. In the Hacienda version, this was changed to "Lot Lot".
  • It was produced in 2023 according to the credits, though again this was changed to 2024 in the official release.
  • The Lucita/Terremoto version of this episode would later leak on September 11, 2024, however the Catbox links were removed via DMCA a few hours later.
    • The typeface that replaced the Goudy blackletter is now finalized.

Allusions[]

  • The Shining - Since Tater said "Here's Dolly!" it may be the reference of "Here's Johnny!" in the famous horror movie "The Shining".
