Summer of Lit-Tater-Atura

Season 1, episode 3b (Production order); Episode 6 (Overall)

"Summer of Lit-Tater-Atura" is the second segment of the third episode of the first season of Primos, and the sixth episode overall.

It released early on July 26, 2024 on Disney+, and officially premiered on July 27, 2024 on Disney Channel, alongside with Summer of Los Diez.

Synopsis[]

To persuade Bibi to buy her a new book series, Tater decides to generously gift her cherished childhood books to her three youngest cousins.

Plot[]

Tater is reading her favorite fantasy romance novel while the primos are having a sock war. As she tells them to keep it down, Bibi comes in to collect laundry. Tater explains her book, Romancimorphs, to her mother and asks for the next volume. However, she insists that if she wants the next book, she would probably need to get rid of her old ones. Tater is at a loss for words as her older books helped define who she is. With Bibi's gentle prodding, Tater decides that the best thing to do is to pass on her older books to other kids and become "Saint Tater, the patron saint of books". She opts to give her books to the youngest primos.

Tater pulls Nachito, Lucita, and ChaCha aside and gives the three her books who happily take them. Nellie mocks Tater for her actions as she points out that they most likely do not have the same appreciation for books as she does. True to her words, Tater finds that Lucita draws in her pages, ChaCha chews and licks them, while Nachito rips the pages out to use as balls for his Palo de Poder (Power Stick). Tater takes the books back, but Bibi insists that she return them. Tater tries to get back at Lucita and ChaCha by drawing and chewing on their things, respectively, but they instead appreciate her actions, much to her chagrin.

Tater leaves a note for Nachito and throws his Palo de Poder in the garbage bin. He looks at the note and panics. As Tater waits for him to get his stick, she realizes that he isn't coming and gets the stick back. Big Nacho asks Tater what she has been doing and she admits to her mean spirited prank. Nachito panicked because, just like him, they are both dyslexic. They like reading, but have difficulty trying to make words out sometimes. Tater returns Nachito his stick and he apologizes for not keeping her book clean. With Big Nacho's help, Tater teaches Nachito how to read by sounding out different letters and gets to invested in a book on Junko Tabei.

Trivia[]

Revelation & significant events[]

  • Big Nacho and Nachito Ramirez are revealed to be dyslexic.

Productions[]

  • The Cookita and Lucita versions of this episode, alongside Summer of Los Diez, was leaked online on September 11, 2024, however the links were removed via DMCA a few hours later.
Summer of Lit-Tater-Atura - Viva Zapato
    • In the opening shot, the pan down to the castle is faster, but holds on the top for a little longer; Flavor text mentioning that it's meant to be México in 1911 during the Battle of Cuautla was removed, thus justifying the modified camera pan. Seemingly consequently, the animation of the cannonball's explosive impacts was slightly slowed down, leaving some frames on threes rather than twos.
    • Emeliano Zapata shouts "Viva Zapata!" in the Cookita version. This was changed starting with the Lucita version, though other instances of "Viva Zapata" can still be heard.
    • Nachito is seen wearing a sombrero during the sock fight, which was removed in the Lucita version. When he speaks, he says "Viva Zapato! Oh wait, that means shoe." in the Cookita version, "I love playing Revolution!" in the Lucita version, and "Fear the Palo De Poder!" in the Hacienda version.
    • Big Nacho and Nachito are seen running before Gordita in the Cookita version, whereas they are absent in the Lucita version. Nachito can still be heard, however. The position/spacing of Jenn Strickland's directorial credit in this scene is also slightly different.
    • An animation error was fixed in the Hacienda version, as the logo for the "TH Waste Management" mistakeably colored the T yellow in two shots. This was fixed when it was changed to an H.
    • Tater yells "I want justice, not murder!" in the Cookita version. This was changed to "I want justice, not regrets!" in the Lucita version. A small bit of # scuff on the garbage bin was also erased in the Hacienda version as she says this, most likely by accident, as it remains intact in other shots.

Allusions[]

  • The garbage truck bears the license plate number SCP-5675, a reference to the paranormal science fiction collaborative writing project SCP Foundation.
    • The specific number, 5675, refers to a story about an incident where residents of a Chicago neighborhood were reacting with terror to the presence of garbage trucks going on their rounds after a local girl's disappearance. It was later found that the girl had been kidnapped by a man who was engaged in thaumaturgy (i.e., the practice of magic), who later killed her after he whispered a spell to keep her quiet. He then dismembered her body and disposed the parts a few at a time in his trash, which would be picked up by the trucks, unaware that the body parts seemed to emit energy waves that caused people caught in it to respond erratically.
  • Twilight - Romancimorphs is an obvious parody of Animorphs and most likely Twilight.
  • The Matrix - When Tater gives her books to Lucita, Nachito, and ChaCha, her glasses darken and she takes on a pose similar to Morpheus from The Matrix films.

Errors & Goofs[]

  • Despite being credited, Bud Humphrey does not actually appear in this or the "Summer of Los Diez".
