Synopsis[]
Tater makes a documentary about her life for her birthday and uncovers truths that shift her worldview.
Plot[]
As the town of Hacienda Hills comments on their local celebrity, an armadillo that tries to roll into a ball, Tater attempts to inform the news that she is "local girl" from "Summer of Los Diez", though nobody seems to remember her. This does not phase Tater in the slightest as tomorrow will be her birthday and she will enter the double digits. Wanting to make a mark on the world by having everyone remember her, she decides to film a narrative documentary about her life, which she herself narrates in a German accent. She gets her primos to play her throughout the video, with comical results.
When Tater attempts to recreate her birth (believing that she hatched from a egg in the middle of Hacienda Hills), Gordita mocks her for her misunderstanding about how people are born. Tater turns to Baby Bud to play her further in her video, but when she tells Bibi about her birth, Bibi informs her that she wasn't born in Hacienda Hills. It turns out that en route to Fresadena to get ice cream, Bibi went into labor and gave birth to Tater crossing the bridge into town. Tater turns to Buela for confirmation and she pulls out her birth certificate confirming that Tater is, in fact, Fresedonian by birth.
Tater suffers an identity crisis and takes a bus to Fresadena to get in touch with her roots, with Buela secretly following her. Tater attempts to connect with the locals, but finds herself even more displaced and dejected and believes that she has no real home. Buela comes to the rescue and informs Tater that home is not where she is born, but where her family is, and her family is in Hacienda Hills where people love her. On the way back, they stop by a poster for the Crevasse, when an earthquake causes Tater to smash her head into it, leaving behind her last baby tooth. She decides to leave it there so that it can be an icon and continues her documentary.
